Saint Mary MBC Ministries

Deacon Ministry
Chair:  Deacon Bruce Jacobs
Assists the Pastor in carrying out the various ministries of the church.

Trustees
Chair:  Lloyd Lawrence
Officers empowered by the Deacon body who take the responsibility of the church finances, legal, and business matters.

Altar and Flower Ministry
Team Leader:  Kimberly Cook
Prepares the altar for worship services and decorates the sanctuary and foyer.

Because We Care, Grief and Comfort
Team Leader:  Arlene Taylor
Ministers to individuals who have been absent for a time from the fellowship. Demonstrates love and care to those sick and shut-in members of Saint Mary by sending cards, making calls, and visiting them in their homes/hospital.

A telephone call from a member informing us regarding the death of a member or family member initiates an opportunity for us to minister to the bereaved through prayer and by offering whatever help might be needed in planning for the funeral. The Comfort Ministry informs the appropriate ministry team leaders and other Saint Mary members, so they can pray and minister, as well.

Benevolent Ministry

Brotherhood Ministry
Team Leader: Leonard Pierce
Ministers to all men of the church through bible studies, prayer support, Caring ministries, mission action, mission education, evangelism, fellowship, and special events.

Christians w/o Partners
Team Leader:  VACANT
Unites Christian singles through fellowship, bible study and recreational activities. Assists young singles to lay a spiritual foundation on which a rich and rewarding life is built and to help more established singles discover a deeper meaning in life that can only be found in a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

Cyber Ministry
Team Leader:  C. Grayson
Provides visually pleasing, intuitive, and spiritually informative web pages for Saint Mary MBC.

David Project
Team Leader: VACANT
Structured to take young men through the rights of passage, educating them on their African/American heritage and on being men in this world.

Deaconess Ministry
Chair:  Brenda Overton
Aids and Supports the Deacon with his responsibilities, duties, and activities as related to his role as a Deacon. Criteria:  Deacon's wife or widow, Pastor's wife or other minister's wife or widow, who is affiliated with the church.

Deliverance Praise Dancers
Team Leader: Robin Turner
To praise and worship God, giving Him the Glory while developing a closer relationship with our Saviour and others through praise, prayer, events, fellowship, and study of the word - to impact the families of the body of Christ; for Jesus Christ.

Drama Ministry
Team Leader:  VACANT
Demonstrates biblical principles through dramatic (and sometimes comedic) presentations.

Evangelism/Outreach
Team Leader:  Minister Van Twyman
Winning lost souls to Christ through prayer and witnessing throughout the community.

Health and Welfare
Team Leader: Priscilla Toussant
Develops programs and provides information to the church and community that encourages good health. Services are inclusive or but not limited to screening, teaching, health promotion, and disease prevention.

Hospitality Ministry
Team Leader: Aretha Wilson

Library Ministry
Team Leaders:  Brenda Franklin
Provides and maintains books and materials appropriate for the church fellowship that can be checked out by the church membership.

Male Chorus
Team Leader:  Billy Cummings

Marriage Ministry
Creates a harmonious relationship between couples through biblical teachings. Develops a fellowship to support and sustain the sanction of marriage.

Multi-Cultural Heritage

Nehemiah Project
Team Leader:  Deacon Lincoln Overton

New Members Ministry
Team Leader:  Ron Williams
Welcomes and collects information from new members. Coordinates and conducts SMBC training for new members. Provides the biblical and theological basis for stewardship.

Prayer and Intercession Ministry
Team Leader: Ervin Jackson
Our Intercessory Prayer Ministry is personed daily by Prayer and Intercession team members from 7:00a.m. to 7:00p.m. Prayer requests are submitted via e-mail to our website of by dialing 251-4551 and selecting the Prayer Line.

Ruth Project
Team Leader:  Valerie McGregor
Structured to take young women through the rights of passage, educating them on their African/American heritage and on being women in this world.

Sanctuary Choir
Team Leader:  Arthur Wilson
A group of people who love to use their voices in the praise and worship of God. While we are blessed with some outstanding voices, most of us are ordinary church members who have a heart for worship and service. This is the most active musical group in the church leading in morning and evening worship services and performing major concerts and musicals during the year in an effort to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in creative and compelling ways.

Seniors Ministry - Loaves and Fishes
Team Leader:  Jackie Brown
Outreach ministry to shut-ins by providing fellowship and meals. Provides dinner for the elderly members one Sunday each month. Provides emergency foods by maintaining a food pantry.

Singing Angels
Team Leader:  Erica Gildon
Worship and the knowledge of music are vital parts of our children's spiritual growth. The Scriptures exhort us to worship the Lord through music and to teach worship to our children. It should be and is our desire to see the children of Saint Mary and their families live each day with an awareness of God's presence.

Sisterhood Ministry
Team Leader:  Toni Henton
Provides opportunities for women's spiritual growth through bible studies, service projects, and events. Offers mentoring for women who desire to grow spiritually.

Sunday School - Christian Education

Usher Ministry
Team Leader:  Leslie Minniefield
Promotes the divine fellowship of the church and establishes a setting appropriate for worship. Assists, directs, and enhances the worship service during services.

Vacation Bible School
Team Leader:  Eunell Bisor

Video/Audio Ministry
Team Leaders:  Clayton Rice
Provides technical video and audio services, and assists in the setup and operation of audio equipment for recording and sound reinforcement, production lighting, video projection, and classroom use of VCR/television units.

Welcome/Greeter Ministry
